About Me
My name is Karen Blom, and I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design from Iowa State University in 1991. After graduation, my husband and I moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, where I first applied my graphic design skills to real estate marketing. There I designed flyers, ads, new home subdivision logos, brochures and produced the Parade of Homes magazine for the community of Wake Forest.
In 1994 I started a family and transitioned to working from home in a freelance capacity. After my two daughters were old enough to attend school, a new opportunity found me working for the private school they attended as the marketing and communications director. That job grew into a 20-year stay where I created all the branding and communications for the school, allowing me to grow my graphic design talents. In my tenure, I also helped a number of other educational institutions with their branding and communications.
In 2014 my husband was transferred to Charlotte, North Carolina. Since that time, I have continued to work for the school remotely along with a number of other freelance clients. During this time, I developed web-design skills and branched out to additional branding and marketing areas.
In 2017, with our daughters now grown and moved away, we adopted our cat, Ellie. Each day you find her by my side participating in my graphic design work. Sometimes helpful, oftentimes playful, and sometimes a random walk across the keyboard creates the unintentional challenge. Regardless, she has become an integral part of the design process, and I love her dearly.
Today my passion and skills continue to grow in designing and helping businesses have a professional appearance. I would love to partner with you to meet any of your design or marketing needs.
